Summary:
As a Product Engineer at Bourns, this position is responsible for Magnetic Products as well as factory liaison for sourced Magnetic product line. The position is the technical and applications expert for supported products including both manufactured and sourced products.
Assist field application engineers and sales in the identification and development of new opportunities and new products. Primary focus is to support of product applications, new product selection, data sheets, technical reports and drawings, marcom material, product life cycle management, competitive market analysis, and product training.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical support for all sales, engineering, and quality related activities for Magnetic customers globally.
2. Participate in new product development as the technical liaison between development team and Sales/FAE/Customer from identification to qualification to production.
3. Coordinate internal efforts by Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Quality, etc., to provide requested information, solutions and answers in a timely manner.
4. Manage and achieve agreed upon Engineering, New Product Development (NPD), New Product Introduction (NPI), and Design-In objectives for Magnetic products.
5. Provide support to Sales and FAEs on customer visits as needed and requested by PLD. Perform regular reviews of key design/sales opportunities as agreed with PLD.
6. Develop and provide Magnetic product training to Sales, FAEs, and authorized Distributors as requested by PLD.
7. Analyze technology trends and competitive landscape, track competitors’ product portfolios and new product releases.
8. Recommend product line performance enhancements, extensions, consolidations, and technical improvements that help maintain competitiveness or provide competitive advantages to the product line.
9. Develop and maintain all Magnetic product documentation (such as datasheets, agency certifications, test data, etc.) and sales collateral (such as product brochures, white papers, application briefs, evaluation kits, etc.)
10. Manage all Magnetic product lifecycle communication activities with Marcom including New Product Introductions (NPI), Product Change Notifications (PCN), and Product Obsolescence Memos (POM).
11. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Good at reading, writing, listening and speaking English.
2. At least 5 years of experience in the electronics industry.
3. Have passive electronics background with experience in technical writing.
4. Working knowledge of agency certifications and standards (including UL, IEC, TUV, AEC-Q, etc.) is required.
5. With a strong teamwork spirit, work ethic and be culturally sensitive.
