Job Description:

As Area Sales Manager, you are responsible for driving sales of Bourns products across your assigned territory (North-West Germany), with a strong focus on developing and growing relationships with major key accounts. You take ownership of the overall business development in the region and collaborate closely with the Inside Sales Representative.​‌

The ideal candidate will be based in North-West Germany. This is a fully remote position that involves frequent travel within the assigned territory.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop new business for Bourns (drive new projects, Design in, Design wins)
  • Insure proper handling of customer orders in support of Customer Service
  • Coordinate Bourns contacts with customers  - key liaison across customer functions/hierarchies into Bourns organisation
  • Make an optimum number of face to face or respective TEAMs sales calls to engineering and purchasing contacts for the purpose of product presentations, pursuing information and winning business
  • Closely cooperate with distribution partners (significant part of the business in this area) in Demand Discovery and Demand Creation
  • Seek new uses and applications for company products
  • Assist customers in adopting company products to their own requirements and specifications
  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of all customer personnel and products
  • Present a professional demeanor and image to the customer and within Bourns
  • Achieve monthly sales booking, shipping quotas and forecasts
  • Make consistent effort to improve knowledge of Bourns product portfolio
  • Respond to management requests and directives in a positive way
  • Provide Sales Director / Regional Sales Manager with a customer, product, competition and market forecast, monthly or any other required reporting on a timely basis
  • Recommend the addition of new products and the modification or deletion of present products to the product line as appropriate
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings, training programs, conventions, sales contests, and trade shows as directed
  • Efficiently work with the linked Inside sales for quoting/any proactive joint roles incl. the support and coaching of non technical IS Reps

 

QUALIFICATION:

  • Sound background in electrical engineering, preferably electronics and a minimum of five years successful experience in a sales function
  • Ability to develop and maintain a cordial relationship with engineers and buyers
  • Ability for strong follow-thru, get the order mentality and winning in tough negotiations
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications and make recommendations to customer engineers to "design-in" equivalent Bourns components (good communicator)
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems with minimal supervision
  • Self-driven, dependable, and committed to taking ownership
  • Fluent command of German and English
