Job Description:

  1. Role Description:

An engineer senior provides leadership and technical expertise to develop new technologies and new designs, and guide others in the profitable application of new technologies and designs in new products. 

They lead or participate on multiple project teams simultaneously in addition to delegating basic design responsibilities.  They lead and mentor engineers with less experience.

  1. Essential / Core Responsibilities:
    1. Essential Responsibilities of an Engineer Senior Role:
      1. Manages and executes engineering projects and programs of moderate to high-level complexity ensuring compliance with safety goals, regulatory and company standards, operation requirements and business needs.
      2. Leads and/or conducts technical studies, complex investigations, and process improvement projects in any platform, including manufacturing processes.
      3. Serves as a technical Subject Matter Expert for Account Managers and Program Managers with respect to technical requirements for assigned products and programs.
      4. Leads and/or conducts process and packaging validations, including conducting and developing process equipment procedures.
      5. Assists in the development of innovative strategies and technical engineering standards to be used for guidance in the field.
      6. Fosters new and innovative ideas in order to lead the optimization of process output and throughput, equipment utilization, reduction in equipment downtime and waste, yield improvements, budget management, standard cost and capital investment requirements.
      7. Challenges the “status quo” and identifies process improvement opportunities.
      8. Provides input or guidance to project management utilizing a systematic approach for project execution.
      9. Participates in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials and complex coordination requirements for teams or locations that require support.
      10. Requires problem solving skills of unique issues/problems without precedent and structure by coordinating and participating in cross-functional investigations.
      11. Performs statistical analysis to track and analyze trends with emphasis on recommending actions to resolve complicated problems and improve processes.
      12. Reviews and approves Engineering Change Notices.
      13. Prepares effective and detailed reports and presentations for delivery to management.
      14. Travels to domestic or foreign locations of the Company or its customers or suppliers to work in an office, laboratory or production environment to analyze and solve engineering-related issues.
      15. Other duties that support the success of the Company.

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

    1. Education:  A bachelor’s degree or above in Mechatronics or Mechanical engineering.
    2. Experience:  Minimum of 6 years of related Engineering experience.  Sensor industrial is preferred.
  1. Knowledge & Skills Requirements:
    1. General Knowledge:
      1. Skilled in reading and interpreting engineering documents.
      2. Proficient in performing statistical analyses using spreadsheets and other software tools.
      3. Able to build prototypes and models.
      4. Proficient in creating budgets for individual projects.
      5. Understands general business principles.
    2. Desired Skills:
      1. Analytical Skills:
        1. Evaluates data and approaches complex problems in a methodical and organized manner.
        2. Faces and solves complex problems with confidence and assurance and understands how to gather facts and evaluate alternative approaches and trade-offs.
        3. Able to conceptualize ways of proving value to customers.
      2. Communications Skills:
        1. Expresses information orally and in writing concisely with clarity, effectiveness and ease.
        2. Has strong business communications skills (e.g., composition of emails, business reports and business presentations).  Listens, understands and learns from what others say
        3. Ability to convey complex ideas, concepts and detailed technical analysis to team members, supervisors, customers and suppliers in a clear and understandable manner in written or oral form.
        4. Is able to deliver effective presentations to, and respond accurately and clearly to questions from, team members, supervisors, customers and suppliers.
      3. General Skills:
        1. Proficient in the use of personal computers, various laboratory equipment, test systems and fabrication systems.
        2. Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite.
        3. Proficient using computer aided design software and other software applications essential for project requirements.
      4. Interpersonal Skills:
        1. Builds and maintains constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation and mutual respect by others.
        2. Able to work effectively in a team and multidisciplinary environment.
        3. Provide leadership and support of temporarily assigned engineers and other employees in-group settings.
