Title: Product Designer
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (End Results Expected):
- Provide robust concepts and production-ready designs including advanced product geometry, process and material solutions that assure the greatest reliability, high volume manufacturability and cost effectiveness.
- Exercise working knowledge in design of small parts and assemblies using:

- Plastics and operations such as injection or transfer molding, ultrasonic welding, heat staking, snap fits, marking and labeling.
- Metals and operations such as stamping, forming, coining, cold heading, extruding, rolling, knurling, screw machining, welding, MIM and plating.
- Termination needs such as wire bonding, cable cut & strip, crimp buckets, resistance welds, soldering, flex-connectors, shroud and terminal profiles.
- Bonding, sealing and joining features such as adhesives, tapes, potting, sealants, O-rings, grommets, boots, threaded fasteners and clips.
- Sensitive components such as magnets & pole pieces, basic electronic parts, IC’s, silicon die, transducers, diaphragms, circuit boards and wiring.
- Identify, resolve and document dimensional stack-ups, including detailed geometry, material, process and application influences, with appropriate use of engineering input, GD&T and statistical stacking.
- Develop and maintain accurate 3D CAD models and fully detailed drawings of highest quality for components and assemblies.
- Produce quality CAD model images and preliminary drawings for concept presentations.
- Redraw internal format CAD files into a Customer Specific CAD format.
- Prepare an Indented Bill of Material reference for the Engineer for new assemblies.
- Check and certify workmanship on major documents.
- Act as mentor to design & engineering staff as needed.
- Maintain and contribute to knowledge base documents and the Lessons Learned Log. Source and share knowledge among technical resources, peers, vendors and customers.
- Produce tool and fixture designs for prototype builds and testing, support the procurement, build and qualification of those tools and fixtures as needed, and support the product build process as required assuring delivery of adequate design quality.
- Meet the requirements of the Concept to Customer (C to C) System.
- Maintain compliance to current ASME/ISO standards, IATF 16949 and customer specific requirements as applicable. Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with High Performance teams, continuous improvement goals, and values of Bourns Automotive Division.

WRITTEN: Excellent written skills to issue instructions, present ideas, concepts, and solutions to all levels of personnel via letters, memos, presentations, graphs, charts, documents, etc.
V. SCHEDULING AND PLANNING:
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects in alignment with dated objectives and goals.

VII. BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of Mechanical/Electrical Hardware Design experience, or an Associate degree with equivalent additional experience.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience with Altium required.
Familiarity with injection molding and assembly processes related to electronic component production preferred.
Knowledge of high volume manufacturing practices.
High level of problem solving experience.
CATIA, IDEAS or ProEngineer experience or other CAD software required.
OTHER SKILLS:
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Intermediate MS Office suite.
Ability to work in teams and independently.
