Job Description:

JOB TITLE: TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING MANAGER

LOCATION: Bourns Heredia, Costa Rica

 

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

Plan, organize, supervise, and control projects for process automation and the optimization of existing machinery in the most efficient, effective, and cost-effective manner. The goal is to boost overall plant productivity by increasing installed capacity and strategically optimizing human resources (thereby reducing the number of operators required on automated lines).

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Design, plan, and execute low-cost manufacturing process automation projects aimed at maximizing efficiency and reducing reliance on manual labor.
  • Redesign and optimize existing plant machinery and equipment to increase installed capacity and improve cycle times.
  • Manage the automation engineering budget, ensuring return on investment (ROI) through highly effective, low-cost solutions.
  • Actively supervise and lead the team of engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of high performance, internal development, and safety.
  • Establish control methods, work plans, and Gantt charts to ensure the timely delivery of technology improvement projects.
  • Promote the implementation of Lean Manufacturing philosophies and 6S standards within the areas undergoing improvement and during the development of new equipment.
  • Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.

 REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Master’s degree in Project Management
  • English B2+ 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools
  • Six Sigma documentation management
  • Statistical software (Minitab or JMP) and other statistical tools
  • Advanced SAP skills
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Experience in personnel management
  • Knowledge and use of failure analysis tools
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electronic measurement systems
  • Knowledge of management systems
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to synthesize information
  • Application of the 5S methodology
  • Teamwork, negotiation, synthesis, organization, and innovation.

 OTHER SKILLS: 

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

Proficient in use of personal computer and skill in using IA tools, MS Project, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word.
