Job Description:

ROLE DESCRIPTION: 

 

The position supports Product Line Manager (PLM) – Resistors, responsible for all Resistor products.  The position is the technical and applications expert for supported products including both manufactured and sourced products.  Assist field application engineers and sales in the identification and development of new business opportunities and new products development. Primary focus is support of product applications, new product, data sheets, technical reports and drawings, marcom material, product lifecycle management, competitive market analysis, and product training.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (End Results Expected):

Application Engineering Responsibilities

  1. Serves as primary technical support to FAE, sales, and quality related activities to Resistor customers in the Asia region.
  2. Reviews customer’s specification requirements and recommend the best suitable products for its application and requests.  
  3. Provide support to Sales and FAEs on customer visits as needed. 
  4. Perform regular reviews of key design/sales opportunities as agreed with PLM.
  5. Coordinate new product development as the technical liaison between development team and Sales/FAE/Customer from identification to qualification to production and to full market release.
  6. Responsible for product lifecycle communication activities with Marcom including New Product Introductions (NPI), Product Change Notifications (PCN), and Product Obsolescence Memos (POM).
  7. Coordinate internal efforts by Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Quality, etc., to provide requested information, solutions and answers in a timely manner.
  8. Develop and maintain all Resistor product documentation such as data sheets, agency certifications, reliability reports, other test data, etc. Assistance to develop and maintain all product advertising, website content, sales promotion, field training materials, marketing plans, product introductions and other proposals.
  9. Provide technical product support to the field as necessary to present product information to customers. Provide Resistor product training to Sales, FAEs, and authorized Distributors as requested by PLM.
  10. Analyze technology trends and competitive landscape, track competitors’ product portfolios and new product releases.

     11. Support other application engineers to release technical documents such as application briefs, product brochures, white paper, and evaluation kits, etc.

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

                                   EDUCATION:    Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or other related field preferred,

5+ years of engineering experience working with manufacturing or engineering of similar product, or equivalent education, experience and/or training.

                          

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

At least 5 years of experience in the electronics industry.  Have a semiconductor or passive electronics background with experience in technical writing.  Possess interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of customers and management.

 

OTHER SKILLS:

Time management and organizational skills are critical.  Candidate must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment and travel as required.  The right candidate must have an understanding of the design, evaluation, and sales process, and the role of an Application Engineer.  Demonstration of self-motivation and original thinking skills will differentiate desired candidates from other candidates.  A candidate with multi-lingual capabilities including English is required.  Working knowledge of agency certifications and standards (including UL, IEC, TUV, AEC-Q, etc.) is required.
