We are currently seeking a skilled Planning & Manufacturing Systems Manager to join our team. I. SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position provides hands-on SAP application support for the Planning and Manufacturing Operations at all Plants within Bourns. Support includes analysis of manufacturing systems and functions, business processes and user requirements for the SAP ERP. Modules include Production/Process Planning (PP/PP-PI) and Quality Management (QM), plus integration with Materials Management (MM), Warehouse Management (WM), Sales and Distribution (SD), Finance and Controlling (FI/CO). Experienced in implementing SAP Demand-Driven Material Requirements Planning (DDMRP) or lean planning techniques. Implementation experience with SAP Manufacturing Execution System (MES) or DMC is preferable. The support includes functional configuration, developing functional specifications, testing and daily maintenance processes. Customer expectations and critical timelines are met or exceeded by managing and coordinating complex IT projects. Will work with other project team members and may act as Project Manager to ensure projects are planned, coordinated and organized to meet production schedules and end-user department requirements. Works under the general direction of the IT Leader for Manufacturing & Engineering Systems.
II. DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (End Results Expected):
- Acts as a liaison between departmental end-users and programming staff in the analysis, design, functional configuration, development, testing and maintenance of the SAP Suite of Products to support product development and ensure optimal system performance.
- Interfaces with users to interpret and clarify complex functional configuration details and process changes with SAP Modules as required to support Planning and Manufacturing Operations. The emphasis is on the SAP ERP modules (PP- Production Planning, PPI-PI-Process Planning and QM-Quality Management).
- Oversees, either directly or functionally, other Software Business Analysts in a team environment to oversee/carry out software development and support functions.
- Performs configuration, complex unit and integration testing for assigned modules, within multiple functional areas, from design to deployment, troubleshoots configuration and upgrades functional changes to ensure optimum system performance.
- Develops and proposes new ideas and advancements of new software concepts in support of Bourns corporate goals and objectives.
- Interfaces with process owners and users to identify, define, and document operational needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements and levels of system access. Provides support in determining feasibility of a software and/or hardware system that fulfills requirements, are cost effective, business related, and operationally compatible, when necessary.
- Conducts, directs, and coordinates efforts relating to special or assigned new software studies and/or evaluations.
- Tracks and documents all the changes in complex functional and business specifications and writes detailed procedures that can be easily understood by end-users.
- Trains users and supports training in the usage of the SAP modules, systems and functionality.
- Documents issues/defects and project information on the Bourns Project SharePoint.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

IV. COMMUNICATIONS:
- ORAL: Excellent skills in simplifying and presenting complex concepts, plans and programs to various levels of employees within the Company. Must be able to convey technical information and ideas and presentations to peers, software users and upper management.
- WRITTEN: Ability to develop, organize and compose complex reports, proposals, training information and procedures. Able to submit concise written proposals and system documentation.
V. SCHEDULING AND PLANNING:
- Must be able to develop meaningful short-term and strategic plans and proposals, complex project plans involving all organization levels within the Company.
VII. BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Communications or the combined equivalent education, work experience and skills in Manufacturing environment with strong knowledge of Enterprise Resource Systems and SAP.
- TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: 15 plus years’ experience in SAP Business Suite modules, specifically using SAP S/4 PP/PPPI and DDMRP Modules. Working in an I.T. environment with some programming experience. Additional experience in SAP QM and SAP MES or DMC experience in a manufacturing environment is preferable. Knowledge in integration with other modules such as MM/WM/SD/FI/CO is a plus.
