Title: Intern Engineering BS
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under close supervision, performs engineering-related assignments as part of a cross-functional team. This may include learning and using various engineering software packages to assist senior engineers and designers in preparing a variety of detailed layouts, design details, or other project tasks.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. As appropriate, learn Pro E, other CAD software, or other engineering software packages to assist senior engineers and designers in project tasks.
2. Work with engineering and marketing to learn the specifics of component design, manufacturing and marketing.
3. Assist engineers and test lab personnel in completing testing required for development and proof of design integrity.
4. Learn to interpret test results; to modify designs to overcome performance issues.
5. Assist in process development of new programs.
6. Assist engineers in the preparation of specifications, estimates or reports needed to manage a program through development.
7. Learn the basic methods of effective program management.
8. Assist in keeping engineering records.
9. Assist in ongoing division programs or initiatives as needed.
BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must be able to participate in team projects.
COMMUNICATIONS: Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and possess the ability to produce written communications, prepare reports and documentation that are clear and concise.
SCHEDULING AND PLANNING: Must be able to work to the schedule described in a project plan.
EDUCATION: Successful completion of two years of college from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Engineering required.
EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated ability to perform the above functions. Prior work assignments in engineering-related activities preferred.
OTHER SKILLS: AutoCAD and Pro-E training and/or other manufacturing software a plus.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Telephone, personal computer, and various lab test equipment.
