Job Description:

TÍTULO DEL PUESTO: PLANT CONTROLLER

Location: Heredia, Costa Rica

 ROLE DESCRIPTION:

Manage the financial management and accounting of the company, evaluating and controlling the economic risks of the company, implementing procedures and practices of information systems of the accounting and financial process to guarantee compliance with the corporate policies and objectives of Bourns Costa Rica.

Position Content:

 

  • Makes a significant contribution to growth and profit through active participation in overall entity planning and management.
  • Develops implements and maintains entity inventory control and cost tracking system capable of providing management with period-by-period financial data on production cost, identifying variance from established standards by cause, product line and model.
  • Responsible for the implementation of automated financial/accounting systems as prescribed.
  • Ensures compliance to Generally Accepted Accounting principles, Corporate Directives and Financial Policies and Procedures.  Implements necessary financial and accounting policies, procedures and systems.
  • Directs the preparation/submission of entity financial planning/forecasting requirements and long range business planning.  Responsible for monthly close, monthly reporting and analysis of operating results.  Presents plans, forecasts and actual results to all levels of management.
  • Directs the financial activities for the TMM Operation which services many other Plants throughout Bourns. 
  • Prepares/reviews financial justification for acquisition/construction of capital assets management.
  • Supervise, lead, and manage the financial department staff, and verify that they follow established procedures, ensuring that they have adequate training to use the digital tools necessary for their work to streamline and improve the organization's processes.
  • Supervise all daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting principles, Corporate Directives and Financial Policies and Procedures, as well as establish internal mechanisms and procedures to guarantee effective, agile, and reliable accounting and financial management.
  • Manage the Company's budgets, costs, payments, inventory control, as well as provide management with period-by-period financial data on the cost of production, identifying variations from established standards by cause, product line and model, to ensure that this management is efficient, check that there are no errors and detect aspects to improve.
  • Control financial indicators and correct budget deviations that are detected, diagnosing the causes of these, as well as interpreting the data available, and making forecasts, to implement the corresponding changes and improvements.
  • Analyze all the economic indicators of the Organization periodically and systematically, including fiscal matters, assets and liabilities, returns and productivity, as well as prepare metrics for all relevant accounting parameters.
  • Analyze, prepare, and present all monthly financial statements, as well as create reports (annual and monthly) analyze operational results, trends and forecasts that help support real results at all levels of management, as well as the company's strategic decisions.
  • Coordinate and control the company's budgets according to the defined objectives, as well as the company's financial forecasts and report any variations. As well as coordinate with the different areas of the company regarding expense management, achieving maximum collaboration between the different departments and optimizing the information and communication flows between the financial department and the rest of the company.
  • Supervise that the company complies with accounting and tax obligations according to current regulations in accordance with the corresponding financial, tax and industry legislation, both local and regional.
  • Develop and document the company's internal control policies and procedures, prevention of economic risks, among others, to prevent accounting fraud, security violations or errors, among others that may lead to economic losses for the Organization.
  • Coordinate and provide support in audit processes, as well as establish and implement corrective actions because of the audit report.
  • Define, delegate, and monitor the goals of your area in charge related to security, identifying, and managing risks related to people's safety, as well as the resources to avoid and/or eliminate them, in order to comply with the measures established for occupational safety, health, and environment.
  • Promote activities that strengthen the organizational culture and influence a positive environment in the team of finances, seeking motivation, teamwork, customer service, and others.
  • Schedule periodic meetings (1:1) throughout the year to follow up on the tasks and concerns of the staff in charge, correct deviations and make timely decisions
  • Do the process of evaluating the performance of the personnel under their charge, within the established period and through the Company's evaluation model and policy, to timely know the level of compliance with the objectives and goals proposed in the area.
  • Ensure compliance with the standards related to occupational safety, health and environment established in the Organization, as well as actively participate in the identification of risks that threaten the safety of people, as well as manage resources to avoid or eliminate them.
  • Ensure that the personnel in charge comply with the Internal Work Regulations and the policies established by the Organization.
  • Provide work environments focused on the development of the 6's philosophy, supporting the team of personnel in charge of their application.
  • Perform other tasks related to your position.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

Academic training:

Bachelor degree in accounting.

Master’s degree in accounting and finance

 

Further training:

Knowledge and Application of ISO Standards.                                                                                        

Knowledge of Tax Laws                                                                                                            

English B2.

                                   

Experience:

 At least 6 years of experience in a similar position and related and multinational industry.

Software:

Knowledge of the SAP HANA system

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office tools.
