Job Description:

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Financial Controller is responsible for leading all financial operations for the manufacturing facility  and  several  regional  sales  offices.  This  role  oversees  financial  planning,  analysis, budgeting,  reporting,  internal  controls,  and  compliance  to  ensure  the  organization’s  financial health and operational efficiency. 

The Financial Controller serves as a key business partner to the Plant Manager, Sales VP, and corporate finance, providing strategic  insights  that  support  business  growth, cost optimization, and sustainable profitability.

The Financial Controller also plays a role in supporting M&A activities, including financial due diligence and post-investment SEC reporting alignment.

 

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

1. Financial Management & Reporting

  • Lead monthly and annual financial closing processes for the plant and sales offices.
  • Ensure  accurate and timely preparation of  financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
  • Review and validate all account reconciliations and monthly accounting checklists to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Consolidate financial results within the plant and for sales offices, highlighting performance trends and risks. 
  • Oversee cost accounting, inventory accounting, and standard cost updates for the factory.
  • Review, approve, and release payroll and vendor payments in accordance with internal control requirements.

2. Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead annual budgeting, standard change and monthly forecasting processes for the plant.
  • Collaborate with planning leader to develop accurate financial projections.
  • Analyze forecast accuracy and recommend actions to achieve financial targets.

3. Operational & Strategic Support

  • Analyze operational spending, production output, scrap, quality performance, purchasing price variance and inventory performance. 
  • Join routine daily operational meetings to provide financial insights and ensure alignment between operations and financial objectives.
  • Support sales offices in consolidating sales-related spending, providing insights into spending variances, and analyzing spending as a percentage of shipments.
  • Evaluate and analyze capital investment proposals (IAR forms), including ROI, payback period, and financial justification.
  • Provide financial insights to support strategic planning, investment decisions, and business optimization initiatives.

4. Compliance, Controls & Governance

  • Ensure strong financial controls, compliance with corporate policies, and adherence to local regulatory requirements.
  • Lead internal and external audits for the plant and sales offices.
  • Maintain robust processes for inventory control, fixed assets, cash management, and revenue recognition.

5. Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and develop the finance team across the manufacturing site and sales offices.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance management to ensure a high-performing finance organization.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and process improvement.

COMMUNICATIONS:

  • Oral: Excellent skills required to effectively communicate concepts, plans and initiatives with various levels of management within and outside the company.
  • Written: Excellent skills required to effectively develop and present proposals, ideas, concepts, reports, training programs and solutions and document processes and action plans. 
  • Languages: Must be fluent bi-lingual in both verbal and written English and Chinese (Mandarin).

 

SCHEDULING AND PLANNING: 

Must be able to develop meaningful short-term and long-term strategic plans and proposals, complex project plans involving all aspects.

 

ANNUAL OPERATING BUDGET:

Controls operating and inventory budgets and delivery goals to maintain working operations within budget guidelines to meet or exceed plant key performance indicators.

 

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance field from an accredited university
  • Training and experience: Minimum  of  ten  years  experience

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Proven record of professional accomplishments.
  • Strong organizational, administrative and communication skills required.
