JOB TITLE: Engineer Jr–Documentation

Location: Heredia, Costa Rica

 

 

JOB ROLE

The Junior Electrical Engineer – Product Documentation & Compliance is responsible for supporting New Product Release (NPR) activities, preparing and maintaining Product Compliance documentation, and ensuring technical records conform to automotive and industry quality standards. This role works closely with suppliers, internal teams, and customers to manage engineering documentation and ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across product lines.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and collect NPR documentation, including draft datasheets, Material Data Sheets (MDS), RoHS/REACH declarations, qualification reports, and design files in collaboration with suppliers, vendors, Applications Engineers, and Compliance teams.
  • Support Product Line Management (PLM) in preparing and maintaining Product Change Notifications (PCNs) and End-of-Life (EOL) notices.
  • Obtain compliance documentation from vendors (e.g., CMRT reports, agency certifications) and convert engineering or supplier reports into company-standard formats for customer distribution.
  • Maintain accurate and current product documentation, including datasheets, reliability reports, certifications, and technical test data, in accordance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Prepare and manage documentation packages required for APQP, PPAP, AEC-Q, RoHS, REACH, and Hi-Rel reports.
  • Ensure supplier and internal documentation conforms to established quality and compliance standards.
  • Contribute to process improvements in documentation and compliance workflows to enhance efficiency and support customer needs.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

 This position requires frequent interaction with customers, engineers, and suppliers. The ideal candidate must be attentive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple requests effectively. Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are essential for collaborating with internal teams and external partners at all levels

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in similar tasks.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality standards.
  • English B2 (written and spoken proficiency)
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance standards (RoHS, REACH) and automotive quality. processes (APQP, PPAP, AEC-Q) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); basic CAD or schematic tools preferred.

PREFERRED SKILLS: 

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Agile, or similar).
  • Familiarity with database management or documentation control tools.
  • Exposure to electronic component datasheet formats and reliability testing methods.
  • Basic programming or scripting knowledge (Python, VBA, or similar) to automate reporting or data handling.
  • Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in electronics manufacturing, quality engineering, or compliance documentation.
