Job Description:

JOB TITLE: Design Engineer Sr

Location: Heredia, Costa Rica

 

JOB ROLE

Lead work teams in the mechanical areas of the Equipment Engineering department, and coordinate with personnel from other areas involved in the projects. Analyze project feasibility, obtain quotes for requirements, and make technical/mechanical design decisions to ensure the project's objectives are fully achieved.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow established procedures to meet customer requirements.
  • Complete the required documentation for process control.
  • Support continuous improvement processes that enable the development of Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Promptly report any work-related problems to your immediate supervisor, Manufacturing, Production, Quality, and/or Technical Services.
  • Control the inventories assigned to your area of ​​responsibility as established.
  • Lead the electromechanical automation systems for projects.
  • Analyze and budget new electromechanical projects.
  • Review, coordinate, and supervise each electromechanical area of ​​the projects.
  • Design mechanical projects that incorporate new technological options in the field of electromechanics, as well as validate and draw conclusions regarding these projects.
  • Review technical manufacturing details and validate functionality.
  • Review technical manuals and recommend inventory maintenance for critical parts and their replacement frequency.
  • Coordinate directly with the electronics team for projects and monitor on-time project delivery.
  • Review and purchase mechanical technical requirements.
  • Analyze available equipment designs and provide solutions and new ideas to improve systems and/or implement required technological changes.
  • Provide support to process area engineers in the timely resolution of mechanical problems.
  • Perform any other functions and/or activities assigned by the immediate supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar roles.
  • Extensive knowledge of design programming software such as Inventor and SolidWorks.
  • Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Extensive knowledge of automation.
  • Knowledge of blueprint interpretation.
  • Ability to lead work teams.
  • Knowledge of heat treatments and material selection (not required).
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools (not required).Conocimiento en Sistemas Lean Manufacturing (No excluyente)   
  • Strong focus on teamwork, customer service, results, creativity, and innovation.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Knowledge of SAP tools.
  • English B1 level.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards.
