  1. BASIC PURPOSE:

 

The development and maintenance of product drawings for the magnetic engineering group.  The main role is to support the application team in developing drawing for customer specified transformers and inductors. These drawings will be used for prototyping, customer release and production support.

 

 

II.   DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (End Results Expected):

 

  1. General
  • Producing 3d models and 2d drawings according to Bourns Design Standards.
  • Working with application team to document work instructions and specifications to meet design requirements.
  • Working to a high quality to ensure internal communication is efficient and accurate.
  • To be self-disciplined and motivated in relation to safety, housekeeping, and time management.
  • Must be able to work in a close knit, team environment.
  • To positively contribute towards the continuous improvement philosophies, in work and work-related activities.
  • Own and drive assigned projects
  • Liaise and review for DFM with global design teams

 

  1. Technical support
  • Support Design team in NPD.
  • Technical support for Customer facing teams.
  • Assist application and design teams across the Power division as required.
  • Help in special projects for Director of Engineering, as required.

 

 

III.  INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

 

Must be able to effectively communicate, present and recommend ideas and solutions. Success comes from the ability to develop strong relationships with the internal and external customers.

While most contact will be within the BEI team, as a global company, being able to interpret, express and explain to other nationalities is an important aspect.

 

 

IV.  COMMUNICATIONS:

 

ORAL: Excellent English required to communicate instructions and present ideas, concepts and solutions to all levels of employees and customers. Any other language is an asset.

 

WRITTEN:  Excellent written skills in English required to issue instructions and present ideas, concepts, and solutions to all levels of employees and customers by any means necessary

 

 

  V. SCHEDULING AND PLANNING:

 

  • Self-driving to ensure tasks are met on schedule and be able to follow team leaders to meet targets.
  • Time management of projects, to ensure targets are met.
  • Timely response to requests – 24hours for initial comment, including predicted time for conclusion.

VII.       BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

EDUCATION: 

 

Graduation from a recognised four-year technical college or university, or equivalent education and/or experience.

 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: 

 

Experience of 3D and 2D drafting, preferably in a design environment.

 

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Mechanical engineering foundational knowledge, including tolerancing, dimensioning and drafting.

 

OTHER SKILLS:

 

Experience in transformer and power supply design or electronic industry is desirable.
