SUMMARY OF POSITION: As Power Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for working on power electronic related projects with a strong focus on magnetic component design. You will work closely with our sales and engineering team to understand customer needs and provide solutions that meet those needs. You will also be responsible for designing, developing, and testing electronic components and systems in the Dallas offices in Carrollton. You will have a major responsibility of working with semiconductor companies to help create reference designs for customized magnetic products as well as standard Bourns electronic components such as inductors, diodes, resistors, MOVs, etc.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (End Results Expected):
1. Design custom magnetics (inductors, transformers, EMI chokes).
2. Prepare Engineering Specifications.
3. Design Electronic Circuits and PCBs for Test and Evaluation of Prototype Magnetics.
4. Test Prototype Magnetics.
5. Collaborate with application engineering teams in semiconductor companies who are designing application boards which need magnetic components.
6. Cooperate with engineering teams in customers during custom design projects. Part of this involves summarizing calculations and simulations in PowerPoint presentations and presenting over Microsoft teams.
7. Work with design engineers in other manufacturing locations to release new products.
8. Contribute to the development of product specifications and requirements.

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
• More than 4 years’ experience in power electronics (industry or academia)
• Proficient in electronic design software such as Altium or similar
• Experience with ANSYS Maxwell, MATLAB, would be an advantage
• Strong knowledge of electronic components and systems
• Familiarity with standard electronic lab equipment

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
Lab operators will take care of sample building and testing. However some hands on experience of soldering and electronic test equipment would be of benefit.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The working environment is office based. There will be some work with the lab operators in the sample and test laboratory. Also a degree of travel for a few days per month can be expected.

$78,000 - $112,000
