Job Description:

SUMMARY OF POSITION: As a Mechanical Engineer specializing in the mechanical design of power electronics, your primary focus will be the design and development of magnetic components, ensuring they meet both technical specifications and customer expectations. Collaborating closely with sales and application engineering teams, you'll translate customer needs into practical solutions, with a strong emphasis on thermal management, structural integrity, and design documentation. Your responsibilities will include:
     • Magnetic Component Design: Develop innovative magnetic components optimized for size, weight, efficiency, and thermal performance, while adhering to customer specifications and industry standards.

     • Thermal Analysis: Conduct simulations and experimental testing to ensure efficient heat dissipation and prevent thermal-related failures, considering real-world operating conditions.
     • Structural Design: Design robust mechanical structures to withstand vibrations, shock, and other environmental stresses, ensuring component longevity and reliability.
     • Material Selection: Evaluate and select materials with appropriate magnetic properties, thermal conductivity, and mechanical strength, considering cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.

     • Prototyping and Testing: Build and test prototypes to validate designs and ensure compliance with performance specifications, documenting results, and making necessary adjustments.
     • Production and Customer Drawings: Create detailed production drawings and customer-facing documentation that clearly communicates design specifications, tolerances, and assembly instructions.
     • Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers and other stakeholders to integrate magnetic components into power electronic systems, ensuring seamless communication and efficient collaboration.

This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your mechanical engineering expertise in the exciting field of power electronics, contributing to the development of cutting-edge technologies while ensuring customer satisfaction through meticulous design and comprehensive documentation.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (End Results Expected):
1. 3D Modelling and 2D Drawings:

     • You'll be proficient in using CAD software to create accurate and detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of magnetic components.
     • These drawings will be crucial for manufacturing, assembly, and quality control processes, and they must adhere to the company's Design Standards to ensure consistency and clarity.
2. Documented Work Instructions:

     • You'll develop comprehensive work instructions that outline the step-by-step procedures for manufacturing, assembling, and testing magnetic components.
     • These instructions must be clear, concise, and easy to follow, ensuring that production teams can consistently produce components that meet design specifications and quality standards.
3. Accuracy and Consistency:

     • Precision is paramount in this role. You'll maintain a high level of accuracy and consistency in all your work, from design drawings to work instructions.
     • This meticulous approach minimizes errors, ensures component reliability, and contributes to the overall efficiency of the production process.
4. Self-Discipline and Motivation:

     • You'll be a self-starter with excellent time management skills, able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
     • You'll also be committed to maintaining a safe and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols, and contributing to a clean and efficient workspace.

5. Teamwork:
     • Collaboration is key. You'll work effectively within a team environment, sharing knowledge, contributing ideas, and supporting colleagues to achieve common goals.
     • You'll communicate clearly and respectfully with team members, fostering a positive and productive work atmosphere.

6. Continuous Improvement:
     • You'll embrace a mindset of continuous improvement, actively seeking ways to enhance processes, optimize designs, and increase efficiency.
     • You'll contribute to a culture of innovation, suggesting new ideas and approaches that benefit the company and its customers.

In essence, this Mechanical Engineer role calls for a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong work ethic, a commitment to quality, and a collaborative spirit.
