Job Description:

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  The Marketing Manager directs all aspects of divisional marketing strategy and activity including market research; identifying and communicating focus segments; defining key market initiatives and high-growth applications; and identifying, evaluating, and presenting new product concepts. Moreover, the position is responsible for augmenting organic efforts with M&A and strategic partnerships, creating thought leadership to promote new products and application uses, and driving brand awareness and customer prospecting/acquisition efforts.

 

The successful candidate will support the development and execution of the market strategy for Bourns’ Protection Division with support of the Product Lines, New Product Development, Sales, and Marcom to drive key initiatives to achieve the divisional goals for new product revenue, market share gains in focus segments, and sustainable profitable revenue growth. Experience in distribution / channel marketing is a big plus. 


DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (End Results Expected): 


1. Research:
• Perform macro market assessments across all regions; generate insights to determine new areas of opportunity for the Division.

• Perform strategic market analysis including market segmentation for greater focus in support of product line management.
• Identify addressable markets or applications that are fast-growing and/or underserved.
• Gather and analyze business data to identify trends and make recommendations.

• Continually review market share performance for all divisional products and communicate to Product Management accordingly.
• Regularly analyze CRM opportunity funnel and POS data for customer and market development and purchasing trends; clarify and disseminate findings to Product Management and Sales for consideration and action.
• Support development and/or validate value proposition for Product Line new product ideas/offerings.

• Identify key targets, partnerships, and commercial relationships in coordination with sales and product management, to support the Division’s revenue growth strategy.
• Coordinate lead acquisition prospecting, targeting, and communication efforts for the Division with Bourns M&A team.

 

2. Plan:
• Lead the development of the go-to market strategy for the Division.

• Maintain a strategic roadmap identifying markets, applications, and products to drive divisional growth.
• Plan and coordinate sessions across business groups to gather and communicate data.
• Develop growth plans by creating market models and revenue forecasting for both organic and inorganic growth.

• Partner with Sales Management and Marcom to drive long-tail sales with online application collateral and product selection tools.

• Partner with Product Management and Sales Management to define, prioritize, establish, maintain, and monitor key deliverables for the Division. 
• Define associated benefits and partner with Product Management and Engineering to identify the expected costs and current development priorities.
• Work with the Marcom staff to plan and schedule marketing activities. 


3. Execute:
• Support and supplement Product Line new product releases with best practices across marketing collateral, product and application training, social media and paid advertising, trade shows, and other customer touchpoints to effectively reach the target customer base.

• Sponsor new innovative and technology leading products, either through enhancements or new designs.
• Partner with Sales to define and maintain the “positioning statement” and value propositions and ensure all Marketing and Sales team members are properly trained on the message and solutions that can be offered.
• Lead the Division market team in coordinate with product management to develop new product definitions, market cases, applications, white papers, and related collateral.

• Support Product Line task force initiatives and teams within and across product lines; coordinate associated application marketing responsibilities and deliverables on time and in close collaboration with Product Management.
• Deliver application content to support white papers, application notes, e-books, videos, webinars, and other new Marcom collateral.
• Deliver training on new applications to the FAE team. This training includes new products into existing applications and existing products into new applications.

 

4. Management:
• Lead a team of technical marketing specialists including application engineer(s), technical marketing content developers, and market analyst(s).

• Ensure that all marketing team resources are competent and adequately trained to be successful in their roles.
• Establish meaningful, measurable goals for direct reports and continually review performances, recommend salary changes, disciplinary actions, and other personnel changes.
• Monitor and report marketing expenses and results against plan and forecast and propose revisions to the plan and budget as required.

 

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:


EDUCATION: 
Technical education to an undergraduate level (minimum), MBA and/or MS degree preferred. 


TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: 
8-10 years of industry experience with a proven track record of successful business management within high technology companies.

 

OTHER SKILLS: 
Demonstrated ability to analyze and identify market trends, and devise and implement a market growth strategy. Technical understanding of underlying applications a plus.

 

COMMUNICATIONS:
Excellent oral communication skills to effectively convey technological products of innovative design, competitive advantage, and substantive benefit to customers. Excellent written communication skills required to successfully execute all marketing programs within the circuit protection and resistive products market. 


INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: 
The Marketing Manager must have a strong work ethic, possess high energy and be culturally sensitive.

SALARY RANGE: 150,000 - 175,000 annually.
