Job Description:

ROLE DESCRIPTION: 

This role involves conducting a wide range of routine and specialized tests to evaluate product performance, quality, and failure modes. The position requires working with high voltage and high current equipment, where strong safety awareness is essential.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and fabricating custom test fixtures and equipment as needed
  • Compiling and analyzing test data
  • Preparing detailed reports, sketches, and technical drawings
  • Performing related duties as assigned or as project needs evolve
  • Supporting outside job duties as needed to help maintain the flow of daily company operations

 

This position requires adaptability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to both technical and operational tasks.

 

 DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (End Results Expected):

  1. Perform routine and custom-designed product tests related to performance, quality, and failure analysis
  2. Operate high voltage and high current equipment safely and effectively
  3. Fabricate test fixtures and equipment as needed to support testing activities
  4. Collect, analyze, and interpret test data; prepare detailed technical reports, sketches, and drawings
  5. Perform additional duties as assigned based on project or departmental needs
  6. Schedule and perform tests on prototypes, new products, and existing product lines to determine conformance to Engineering/Datasheet specifications
  7. Prepare test results and statistical summaries for publication to Engineers, Marketing, and internal customers
  8. Make recommendations for test procedure changes/modifications to ensure reliable test methods
  9. Originate failure reports on non-conforming products and recommend further testing and analysis
  10. Consult with and advise engineers, product designers, and other personnel regarding product testing and troubleshooting
  11. Perform detailed failure analysis on customer returns, inspection failures, defective components, or new products using physical, electrical, chemical, thermal, x-ray, or disassembly methods where available
  12. Maintain records of tasks performed and results obtained
  13. Write limited computer programs to collect and reproduce test data
  14. Assist and/or train other personnel in the division
  15. Perform additional duties as assigned based on project or departmental needs
  16. Assist with tasks outside of core responsibilities to support the daily operational flow of the company

 

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:              

High school diploma plus two years of college or technical school training in the electronics field.

 

EXPERIENCE:             

  • Knowledge of electronic components, test equipment and at least 2 years of experience as an
  • Electronic or Test Technician with equipment troubleshooting / maintenance.

 

OTHER SKILLS:          

  • Ability to solve mathematical problems
  • Read and create technical drawings, schematics, and sketches for fixtures, tooling, and specialized equipment
  • Trouble-shoot simple electronic circuits
  • Operate test equipment such as power supplies, digital Multimeter, soldering and assorted hand tools.
  • Solid understanding and practical application of Ohm’s Law in electrical testing and analysis.
  • Demonstrates the ability to complete assignments efficiently and with minimal supervision

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Capable of following both verbal and written instructions accurately

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

Operates various electronic, mechanical, and environmental test equipment such as oscilloscope, digital Multimeter, Thermal Imaging Camera and in-house test equipment such as Surge Generator, AC Source and other electronic computerized equipment.

 

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Frequent lifting of material and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.  Bending, stooping, reaching and walking are required. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

A variety of working conditions both in and out of the lab, which include travel to manufacturing facilities.  Equipment, chemical, fire, thermal and High Voltage hazards are controllable with proper safety procedures and training.  Moderate to high noise level may be experienced.

$55,000 - $70,000
