Plant Manager

Location: Heredia, Costa Rica

Position Overview:

The Site General Manager will oversee and coordinate all activities at our large-scale manufacturing plant in Costa Rica, which employs over 500 individuals and has been a cornerstone of our operations for over 40 years. This role encompasses leadership in production, materials management, quality control, and manufacturing engineering, as well as collaboration with the Controller and Human Resources to ensure cost-effective production meets shipping requirements and sales commitments. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in manufacturing technology and management, along with a comprehensive understanding of related administrative functions. Strong leadership skills are essential, including the ability to guide, inspire, and support the team, make confident decisions, and foster a conducive work environment to maintain and enhance our competitive edge in the electronic component manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Strategy: Develop and implement strategies aligned with company goals and market trends.
  • Resource Management: Optimize resource use and implement corrective actions to meet profitability goals.
  • High-Performance Environment: Create a motivating environment, attract and retain top talent.
  • Organizational Efficiency: Establish systems for efficient achievement of plans, adapt to dynamic needs.
  • Investment Planning: Develop and execute approved investment plans for infrastructure.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements; maintain robust compliance frameworks. (ie. Free Trade Zone)
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain relationships with government, media, and community organizations.
  • Quality Systems: Maintain and improve quality and environmental systems (ISO 9001,14001, 50001/IATF 16949).
  • Strategic Development: Support business strategies, monitor performance, and build strategic partnerships.
  • IT Infrastructure Management: Oversee technology infrastructure and cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Innovation: Lead problem-solving efforts and drive company mission forward.

Qualifications:

  • Degree: Bachelor's or master’s in engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years in manufacturing operations, preferably in electronic components.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead high-performance teams and foster an innovative culture.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Skills: Strategic thinking, problem-solving, effective communication, compliance knowledge.
  • Resource Management: Track record in optimizing resource use and implementing corrective actions.
  • Investment Planning: Experience in developing and executing investment plans.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Proven skills in maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.
  • Commitment to Quality: Ability to ensure continuous improvement in quality systems.
